The power behind breastfeeding

The truth is as many Bruneian women would be ashamed to admit, not many actually breastfeed their children, after all many return to the workplace in less than two months how does one continue to breastfeed when the fact is the child being left behind is only 3 months old. Okay, I'm not the best breastfeeding model, I breastfed my babies each per 3 months and with my second child I feel I didn't spend enough quality time with him because I didn't breastfeed him much. The reason? Lately though with my third (and probably last) child I have been breastfeeding exclusively without giving the child any water substitutes, I do smoke but I don't care studies have been shown that children are positively shielded from the caffeine and nicotine and hopefully would be less immune to nicotine addiction. The reason being? My mother isn't around to tell me what to do, previously she would add, behind my back, water for the baby and she would buy, also behind my back, formula. In Islam it is almost or even wajib for a mother to breastfeed her child for two years, many have overlooked these surahs that quote the care for a child and breastfeeding, we are more than comfortable believing in our bubbly world that formula is better than breastmilk. Mothers advocate formula saying that there isn't enough nutrition, the baby isn't getting enough milk, none of these are true, cases such as this is extremely rare and they are pushed by physicians and doctors who do moolah and don't understand the dynamics and importance of breastfeeding. Breastfeeding not only makes a woman lose weight extremely quickly (to refer to some articles the weight lost a day is 500-700 calories this takes at least for a person to ride on a bicycle uphill for an hour, 30 laps in an olympic sized pool) but also shields the woman from any known cancer, the length of breastfeeding is inverse proportion to the chances of getting cancer. Many physicians or idiots would push ideas in your head telling you that you don't have enough nutrition to feed your baby, there are many women who are extremely poor who have managed to change an infant to an adult thank you. BY the ideas of being flabbergasted and lambasted with DHA ARA and all the other artificially added compounds and omegas in formula, please your breastmilk has all that and more even if you're nutritionally deficit, a child may sound smart, may look smart when fed with formula but the fact of the matter is, the smartest child who will end up being famous and intelligent is the breastfed child. Even a few months is all a child needs, I remember that everyone in my household was sick when my second son was born, it was all the condition any child needed to contract a disease quickly being and having not enough immunity but I persevered, I also had the flu, if Ezra contracted the disease he would have had to stay at the hospital for being so young to catch it but I breastfed him and it kept him shielded from being sick. When I stopped breastfeeding Ella then she got a cold, she was 4 months old, I should have known better to continue breastfeeding and now that God has given me another opportunity I am going to feed Ezra breastmilk since he is only a year old, I ordered an electric breastpump so I could go to school and still leave milk at home it cost me $400++ but it is far more cheaper than spending on formula that would at least cost me close to $1000 in a year. Another thing is that breasts are considered a sexual object that people are being negative about breastfeeding and breastmilk, don't attitudes must change women have become more sexual than ever before because they are being turned into sexual commodity rather than as human beings that need to feed their children. You do not have to add water while breastfeeding, thankfully, my amah has the right attitude, she said how could you feed water to a newborn, my son Edward does not cry too often only at night when he needs to breastfeed for four hours in a row but during the day he sleeps very nicely because he feels full, breastfeeding makes a child feel full for long hours, he is easier to care for than Ella and Ezra because he is breastfed exclusively. Formula fed infants feel less fuller and they need to be breastfed constantly, Edward needs the four hours at night and through the day he breastfeeds every 3 hours or so. Do not overlook the fact that you could store your breastmilk, you don't need the pricey items like a ziploc breastmilk bag that retails for fifteen dollars you could easily buy a normal sandwich ziploc bag that costs only a dollar to store your breastmilk, the black and gold brand sandwich bags that are resealable also has a tag so you could mark the dates when you stored or froze your breastmilk. When I first started having children I used a chicco breastpump which has a longer handle than the normal breastpump that hurts your hand when pumping. I could pump out around 3 ounces at one sitting, my mother was shocked that I had so much milk, she says she couldn't produce that much milk, the truth is she could but she doesn't have the confidence to produce that much breastmilk. They all believe that the infant is hungry during the first few days of being born that they bring in bottles at the hospital and feed the child water. Those first few steps is what causes the failure to produce adequate breastmilk, remember if they wail stick your breasts down their throats, you will produce enough breastmilk. I am also the kind of person who leaks quite often and this is embarassing when you're going out because when it dries you'll either smell like cheese or iron. You could cut up your sanitary napkins into two to line up your bras because special maternity pads are quite costly, there are many cheap alternative ways to successfully breastfeed. Even if you go to work or to school expressing your breastmilk will help more ways than one, store as many as you can so other people can have the chance to interact with your child. If there are problems with the infant like a cleft palate problem, inability to suckle strongly and the like squeeze your breastmilk and feed it with a bottle. People have been doing this for centuries they express their breastmilk, this is not impossible if you spend time squeezing it out, breastfeeding is painful but they help you. I gained quicker health and I have lost a lot of weight and its been only 20 days since the baby is born and I could not have achieved this quickly if I added formula. My body is almost its normal size and I could finish it off even more in another month. A formula fed baby is harder to take care of than a breastfed baby. Feed your child exclusively with breastmilk and you will have a freer life than formula fed mothers. And the best part of breastfeeding? I don't need to haul the extra paraphernalia that comes with formua fed infants, its easy just take out a breast.

Everyone's marriage is down in the dumps. My parents got divorced after 22 years of marriage and 27 years of being together. Britney's getting rid of her husband, then there's of Hillary Swank, Whitney Houston, everyone's getting divorced, its the age of divorces, people are just too lazy to work things out and opt for a quick solution, is it the hedonistic lifestyle? Everything seems easy and within reach that people think having a relationship is easy and within reach what we forget is that being in a relationship is unlike having a chemical peel or a botox injection, its too quick right in front of your eyes results. And it isn't just in the marriage arena, other relationships too are being fragmented, parents are getting less and less closer to their children that some feel as if their children are strangers. People are being propelled to what 'I want, I want it now, I'm right, so right,' the problem is most of the time they aren't right and they shouldn't have what they want right on the spot, that just creates bad behaviour, the lack of feeling that you can't have everything is diminishing pretty rapidly. The thing about people is just because the superstars do it everyone needs to jump into the bandwagon. What happened to AWOL? Its getting pretty boring that even here everyone needs to have that new Japanese car, everyone has to have those boom boom speakers that make eardrums burst, they drive around looking for the opportunity to ruin your ears. I dont understand why they do it, I for one am not impressed. Then there are the idiots who modify the springs to their cars, don't they get it that the stuff is used to absorb any friction a car may encounter during driving? No, they don't, they don't understand the dynamics, so this is how the argument goes, the fact is society's divorces and faded out relationships is like these stupid modified cars, they think they look good, they think they look hot but the truth is they look dumb, dumb to the point when they try to drive past a hump. Dumb when I hitch a ride in their cars and the bottom of the backs of their cars actually give away and they drive scratching the road. I can't overturn society and I can't make people listen to me even if I have the rights to prove that doing certain things will make you a better person for it, like prophets, nobody listens to prophets, they buttress prophetic traditions with odds and ends just to justify the worst of lives. I suppose if I live my life differently I could work it out.

The world is increasingly becoming so materialistic, this is I suppose the effects of being in a developing country, one hand is reaching for the 'stars' while the other is touched home on the ground. Actually, I didn't face such a problem when I lived overseas, life was life anyway you looked at it, poor or rich. But the younger generation in a developing country is becoming increasingly aware of the 'need' to be excessively wealthy against the backdrop of TV shows like 'My Super Sweet 16', I feel quite lost here actually in Brunei I wonder why, is it because of Brunei's late development that is becoming quite apparent and because of the need for increasing industrialization I suppose that almost everyone is jumping into the bandwagon of secularism and materialism. Its not like living in Perth where every Friday the Hare Krishnas would walk around the city handing out leaflets of their all vegetarian restaurant which I regretfully should have went it could have been good for my health. Or the people passing flyers for the Jehovah's Witnesses or the Church of Scientology, then there are the Buddhists, or young handsome priests walking around looking for converts and unabashedly wanting to engage in intellectual debates. That is life, where the industrialization is already moving, life has become very exposed, humans there it seems have evolved the passage of materialism but ironically it is the root of materialism itself. It seems God has placed the two extremes side by side next to each other. Some people have become increasingly aware for the need of spirituality, some like my mother and her family could easily separate religion and their lives and be comfortable about it. Some, like me are dogged daily about my decisions and my life and God and I feel that he is connected with me too much already.
